The power of unexpected moments
There are unexpected moments that simply show up. Without prior warning, or permission, and no instruction manual on how to face them. They can come through a phone call, appear casually in a conversation, or even with just a look...
And before you know it, life takes a turn and everything changes. It's like everything seemed normal one second, and the next, nothing would ever be the same.
Sometimes they’re the news we had been hoping or waiting for, and others not so much. Sometimes they fill us with joy, and other times they leave us undone. And even if we don’t understand it at first, even when our world shakes and it feels like our heart is going to leap out of our chest, there is something sacred about those moments, something that engraves them into our memory and transforms us.
My Defining Moments:
In my case, I can clearly remember several of those moments that changed my life. I didn’t plan them, they came without notice, without asking for permission, but they transformed the life I once knew.
🤎That Wednesday in January 2003, just over 22 years ago, when my parents, in a casual conversation at lunch, told us we were moving to the United States the following week.
🤎That Saturday in November 2008, almost 17 years ago, when I went to pick up a lifelong friend from the airport who was visiting Miami, and he showed up with my childhood crush, the love of my life. With just one look, our destinies changed.
🤎That Thursday in July 2014, almost 11 years ago, when I received the call that would make me a mom.
Grateful for the Unexpected
Today, I want to take a moment to give thanks. Specifically for those unexpected moments that changed my life. They definitely didn’t look how I imagined. Maybe they weren’t perfect. I don’t think I was ready to understand them or even face them. But they were part of the bigger lesson: you don’t always have to have everything figured out, or in order, or even planned.
Those moments came like a tornado. They shook my ground, filled me with joy, with uncertainty. And they definitely opened doors to the unknown. They forced me to let go and surrender.
Once again, the version of me who always plans everything ended up being guided, without even realizing it, by God’s plan, by destiny, by those small moments that arrive full of emotion and change you forever.

Today I just want to say thank you...
✨Thank you for interrupting my plans with something so much better.
✨Thank you, because even though I’m not a fan of surprises, life has surprised me with plans far greater than my own, and I wouldn’t trade them for anything.
✨Thank you for showing me that the most beautiful things sometimes begin in the most unexpected ways.
✨Thank you for reminding me that God’s path is perfect.
Because even if you’re not expecting an important call, life is always trying to guide you to your path.
And sometimes, it arrives on the most ordinary days. A day like any other. A routine afternoon. In the most unlikely of places.
And maybe, in that moment, you don’t even realize it was a turning point, but later, when you look back, you see it clearly: it was the beginning of something big.
Embrace the Unexpected
Life has a beautiful way of surprising us just when we least expect it. These unexpected and transformative moments remind us that we’re not always in control, but we do have the ability to find gratitude in life’s twists and grow through every unplanned experience. Let’s learn to embrace the unexpected.
