Christmas is here…

The most beautiful time of the year. A season full of decorations filled with lights, travel, music, gifts, packed schedules of school events, parties, and family gatherings, and above all, the joy that can be felt in the air.

It’s a time many of us look forward to all year long, defined by reunions and moments shared with family and friends, a season when we allow ourselves to slow down and pause the everyday rhythm.

In my family, Christmas has always been one of the most special celebrations. My mom, in particular, has always had a gift for turning these days into something magical, creating traditions that over time have extended to our children and the rest of our family.

Christmas is all of that… and more.

It is the season in which we celebrate the birth of Jesus. And without the intention of entering into a deeply religious discussion, that birth story holds a profoundly human detail that often goes unnoticed.

When we celebrate Christmas, we also celebrate a story of adoption.

We all know the story of how, on Christmas Eve, Joseph and Mary welcome Jesus. But few take the time to look closely at Joseph’s story.

An ordinary man, faced with a situation he did not plan, did not seek, and probably never imagined for his life. A situation that exposed him to criticism, social judgment, and disgrace in a time when reputation meant everything.

Despite all of this, Joseph, guided by his spirituality, his faith, and above all, by love chooses to stay and to take on a role that was not his biologically.

Joseph does not occupy the center of the story. His name is rarely the first to be mentioned. And yet, his act is silent and immense. It is filled with devotion, courage, and commitment.

His decision teaches us that fatherhood and family are not always built through biology, but through choice, presence, and the small, everyday acts that shape a life.

If we take a moment to reflect, Christmas also reminds us that not all families begin in the same way, but all can be built with care, responsibility, and love.

For me, Christmas has become even more special because of this. Because it reminds me that the acts rooted in love are the deepest ones, the ones that build something real, the ones that give meaning to our reason for being.

Merry Christmas 🤍
